How to build a website from sections: a guide to the SITEKODO site builder

Yazar OVOKODO Ekibi · · 4 dk okuma

In short: On SITEKODO a site is made of pages, and each page is made of ordered sections. You start from a template or a blank page, add sections, upload images, pick a theme and preview before going live. You get 3 sites per account, 8 pages per site and 20 sections per site. This article covers what the builder really does today, in order.

Which section types are there?

There are seven section types. Each type has its own validation rule and an empty state, so a section left unfinished does not quietly go live.

| Type | What it is for | What it contains | |---|---|---| | Hero | Top of the page | Title, subtitle, optional image | | Text | Story, announcement, explanation | A free paragraph | | Feature list | Why choose you? | Three items: a title and a one-line description | | Contact | How to reach you | Email and phone shown readably | | Image | One photo | Image, description, optional caption | | Gallery | Several images | Images side by side with a title | | Contact form | Receive messages from visitors | Name, email and message fields |

How do I build the site step by step?

  1. Open an account. SITEKODO is an independent product with its own sign-up, sign-in and two-step verification (TOTP).
  2. Pick a template. There are three ready layouts: small business (four sections), personal profile (three sections) and one-off announcement (two sections). You can also start from a blank page. A template is only a starting point: the sections you choose are copied into the site and from then on belong entirely to you.
  3. Replace the text. Template text is sample wording; replace all of it with your own sentences before publishing. The publish screen lists sections that still hold template text as a warning; it does not stop you, but it makes them visible.
  4. Upload images. JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF are accepted; SVG is not, because a script can be hidden inside an SVG. Uploaded images are re-encoded, so embedded data such as location is dropped. Images that are too large are refused with a sentence that explains why.
  5. Add pages. A site can have 8 pages. Each page has its own title, address, a choice of whether it shows in the menu, and a search title and description. Reserved names such as robots or sitemap cannot be page addresses.
  6. Reorder. Sections and pages are ordered without gaps. A reorder is a single request, made with the up and down arrows next to each item.
  7. Choose a theme. There are four themes: Classic, Warm, Forest and Technical. Fonts are system fonts only, so a visitor's browser never connects to a third server.
  8. Preview. See the page as it is before publishing.

What are the limits?

| What | Limit | |---|---| | Sites per account | 3 | | Pages per site | 8 | | Sections per site | 20 | | Publication versions kept | 5 |

The numbers come from a single setting; the code that checks them and the sentence on screen read the same value.

Where do contact form messages go?

When you add a contact form section, the messages visitors write appear in the Messages screen of the panel; you can mark them read or delete them. The form is protected against forged and too-fast submissions with a timestamp and a rate limit.

Do I need to enter anything extra for search results and sharing?

No. The page description, share card and icon are derived from content that already exists: the hero subtitle, or the first text section. If nothing can be derived, the tag is not written at all; an empty description is worse than no description. If you like, you can also write your own search title and description for each page.

Can someone else see my site?

No. Someone trying to reach another person's site gets "not found" rather than "forbidden", so even the existence of such a site does not leak.

How do I publish the site?

The publish step turns your pages into static files (HTML, a stylesheet, robots.txt) and writes them to your hosting account. Publishing depends on a ready hosting account and a domain attachment; the ordered list at the top of the screen shows which step is ready, which is waiting and which is unknown. Each publication becomes a version in the ledger. To undo a bad publication, see the article on rolling back a publication.

One important detail: a new publication first empties the publish folder, so files you uploaded by hand are deleted at that moment.

What does the builder not do?

It does not offer a blog, a shop or multi-user editing; ordering uses arrows only; the theme and template lists are short on purpose. If you need something more complex, this builder is not the right tool.
